Edwin Dewey Ziegenbalg was born February 5, 1931 in Highmore, South Dakota to Paul and Emma (Reider) Ziegenbalg. He attended school for awhile and then worked construction and as a laborer. Edwin lived in Yankton, Redfield, and Watertown over the years, and moved to Volunteers of America in Sioux Falls SD in 2011. He most recently resided at Palisade Healthcare Community in Garretson SD. Edwin will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, storytelling, singing, love for family and friends, and playing his harmonica and guitar. He loved country music, church services, watching old western movies, sitting around a campfire, celebrating birthdays at Grand Falls casino, and talking about the days when he was on the ranch riding horses. He was so happy to have had the opportunity to travel to the Black Hills and see Mount Rushmore while on his mission to find the perfect ice cream cone! Edwin believed in the Lord, was proud of his Bible and believed in miracles. Edwin is survived by his sister, June Goble of Douglasville GA, and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Clyde, Raymond, Cleveland, and Jerome.
