Mary was born November 6, 1923, in Canton, South Dakota, the daughter of Clarence and Helen Chesley. The family relocated to Sioux Falls where she attended elementary school and Washington High School. Mary was united in marriage to John Meyerink on October 30, 1942 in Luverne, Minnesota. She traveled with him during some of his US Army training in preparation for his serving in Europe during WWII. Upon his return, they began their family and raised them in Sioux Falls. Mary was employed by Ben Franklin and Lewis Drug for many years. John passed away in 1998 and Mary remained in Sioux Falls until 2010, when she relocated to Illinois to be near family. Mary enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, bowling and traveling to visit family. She was a member at Wesley United Methodist Church for 60 years. Grateful for having shared in her life are her children; Carol (Gary)Vosburg of Las Vegas, NV, Diane (Bob) Nielsen of Geneva, IL, Judy (Gene) Andersen of Rindge, NH; grandchildren, Kristen Madsen, Amy Ehlers, Keli Fortuna, Taff Nielsen, Robyn Hannett, Brooke Andersen; and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-laws, Jane Malone and Fannie Swier and brother in law, Marion VanderPlatts and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 28 at Wesley United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to Wesley United Methodist Church Kidz Count Program.
