Rowland was born November 16, 1928 at Humboldt, South Dakota, the son of Andrew and Nina (Hall) Ingalls. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Colton High School. He worked at Dybig Nursery in Colton for a few years before entering the Army. Rowland served in the Army during the Korean War for two years. Following his discharge, he returned to work at the nursery. Rowland married Maxine Gould on May 5, 1957. They lived in Sioux Falls where Rowland was a welder at Egger Steel for 35 years. Rowland enjoyed gardening, collecting John Deere items and spending time with his grandkids. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union and Wesley United Methodist Church. Rowland is survived by his wife, Maxine; three children, Ron (Linda) Ingalls of Sioux Falls, Monica (Clifton) Leins of Rapids City, Connie (Mark) Skinner of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren, RJ (Lisa) Allen of Florida, Matthew Skinner of Omaha, NE, Cody (Emily) Leins of Brookings and Kaitlyn Leins of Brookings; three siblings, Lavonne Uthe, Iona Flaskey and Harold Ingalls. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dale; son-in-law, Russell; and five siblings, Darrel, George, Verna, Marguerite and Violet.
