Bill was born July 22, 1927 at Mitchell, South Dakota, the son of Ralph and Cora (Huber) Preston. He attended school in Mitchell and immediately after high school served in the US Army. Bill married Berniece Elizabeth Hendricksen on September 1, 1949 at Mitchell. He lived at Mitchell until 1986 when he and Berniece came to Sioux Falls. While living in Mitchell, Bill was employed with the Firestone Tire Store for 5 years and at Montgomery Wards for 23 years. After moving to Sioux Falls, he worked at the State of South Dakota Public Safety Division for 8 years in the Drivers License Exam Station at Sioux Falls. William Wesley Preston went to join his Lord on April 8, 2010. Bill was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Bill was a skilled handyman and loved working with tools, remodeling homes and all kinds of carpentry projects. He built several dollhouses over the last few years. Bill loved music and dancing - especially polkas! He also loved to play cards. Bill's favorite vacation spot was the Black Hills where he took many family vacations. He also enjoyed a trip to the casinos in Deadwood. Bill always had time for his family. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He was affectionately known by the kids as the "tickle monster". Bill never forgot his wife and daughters on Valentine?s Day and was ready with cards and gifts every year. Bill is survived by his wife, Berniece, four daughters and their husbands; Sheryl Kucker (LaMont), Worthington, MN, Barbara Boddicker (Doug) Lead, SD, Carol Hanger (Rick) and Ann Storey (Alan), both of Sioux Falls. He is also survived by one sister, Beverly Frey of Mitchell, SD; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Bill was pre-deceased by his parents, one brother, Francis, one sister, Lorraine Frey and one granddaughter.
