Donald was born June 24, 1949 at Watertown, South Dakota, the son of Melvin and Delores (Mohan) Goens. He enlisted with the US Navy and served from January of 1968 to November of 1971. Don married Laurie Anderson at Castlewood, South Dakota, on July 1 1972. They lived at Milbank, Castlewood, Sioux Falls and Crooks. Laurie passed away July 24, 1983. Don worked for the Sioux Falls Public School system in maintenance and custodial positions for 20 years and was a member of Local 1025. He moved to Baltic in 1993. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and woodworking. Grateful for sharing his life are his mother, Delores, Esteline, SD, three children, Jason (Shirley) Goens, Albuquerque, NM, Ryan (Meagan) Goens, Baltic, Shannon (Stephan) Reuchlein, Thornton, CO; two grandchildren, Nikolaus and Lauren; a brother, Roger (Terri) Goens, Volga and their children, Kacie and her daughter Yariyana and Justin Goens, a brother, Richard Goens, Adel, Iowa and his children, Naomi, Jeremy and Jesse; special friend, Ruth Anderson, Sioux Falls and her children, Lee Anderson, Bill Anderson, Laurie (Tony) Anderson-Carroll, grandchildren; Andy (Elsie) Smith and Robbie Carroll, one great granddaughter, Emma Smith. He is preceded in death by his dad, Melvin, and his wife, Laurie. Don left us with these thoughts: ?When I quit this mortal shore And mosey ?round this earth no more Don?t weep, don?t sigh, don?t grieve, don?t sob; I may have a better job.
