Deloris Adeline (Halverson) Wallenberg, age 81, died Monday November 30th at her home. Deloris was born in Hendricks, MN on March 13, 1928 to Henry and Ida (Landmark) Halverson. She was raised on the family farm near Brandt, SD, attended country school for 8 years, and graduated from Brandt High School in 1946. She was a member of Highland Lutheran Church in Brandt where she was baptized on March 30, 1928 and confirmed on May 31, 1942. She then moved to Sioux Falls where she worked for Nash Finch, Bahr?s Beauty and Barber Supply, and John Morrell & Co. On March 27, 1948 she married Lester Wallenberg at Eastside Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. They farmed near Artesian for one year and then returned to Sioux Falls to work at John Morrell?s. Deloris was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in LWML having held several offices throughout the years. Deloris also served as a volunteer at the Lung Association and Sioux Falls Lutheran School. Survivors include her husband, Lester; her 2 daughters, Denise (Duane) Kruse of Sioux Falls and Deb Wallenberg of Custer, SD; her sister Marcella Buchholz of Clear Lake, SD; 8 grandchildren: Adam, Tyler, Carly, Audrey, Max and Molly Kruse of Sioux Falls, Jamie (Mike) Striplen of Denver, CO and Cad (Laura) Waite of Edgemont, SD; 2 great-grandchildren: Riley and Cian Waite; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, Leroy Halverson; her sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Nordt Gronseth; her brother-in-law, Lester Buchholz; and two nieces, Barbara Buchholz and Michelle Horner.
