It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Brian James Shaw, age 71, on Friday January 24 2025, surrounded by his loving family under the care of Sanford Hospice.

Cherished son Brian was born on August 3, 1953 in Hamilton, Ontario to Thomas R Shaw and Eileen A Vaughn. Brian spent his formative years in southeastern Ontario, spending summers at the cottage with family and enjoying activities like hockey and boy scouts in his youth. He graduated high school in Toronto and later enjoyed spending time ice fishing, camping, and participating in dart leagues.

Brian received accreditation from Ryerson Polytechnical Insitute for his career in print and management. His sales and management skills were again employed throughout his fulling career at QPS (Qualified Presort Service) in Sioux Falls.

Brian and wife Deb met on a Caribbean cruise and after a long distance romance were married in 1983. They lived in Canada and moved to Sioux Falls in 1990. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Laura and Andrew. Brian enjoyed summer vacations spent in Tobermory, Ontario - “Traveling in Good Spirits” on the Chi-Cheemaun to spend special time with family.

Brian was a drummer in pipe bands for over 50 years, lending his talents to the Royal Canadian Legion Ranger’s Branch Band and the 25 Toronto Service Battalion Band before helping to co-found Dakota District Pipes and Drums to continue his love of his Scottish and Canadian heritage.

Brian will be loved and remembered by wife Deb, daughter Laura (husband Kyle), son Andrew, sister Nancy, brother Larry, niece Erin and family, nephew Murray and family, many many cherished friends, and anyone fortunate enough to have known him.
