Dale Anderson

Dale Duane Anderson, aged 72, passed away peacefully on January 21st, 2024, under the care of hospice at Ava’s house inSioux Falls, SD.   A celebration of life will be held in the coming summer months.

Dale was born March 29, 1951, in Moorhead, MN, to Ralph and Doris Anderson.  He grew up in rural Hawley, MN and was a 1969 graduate of Hawley High School. He was very active in football and wrestling.  Dale attended Minnesota State Community College where he received his Associates degree with emphasis in History and Accounting. Dale had a tremendous amount of pride in his work for 45 years as a custodian in the school systems, which included Mitchell, Sioux Falls, SD, and West Fargo, ND.

Dale married the love of his life, Catherine Gramm from Mitchell, SD on April 15, 1989 in Highland Grove Lutheran Church in rura Hitterdahl, MN. Dale and Cathy lived the majority of their years together with their puppies in Fargo, ND. In 2016, after Dale’s retirement, they moved back to Mitchell to be closer to Cathy’s mother, Ethel Gramm. At the time of Dale’s death, they were living in Sioux Falls.

Dale was a Minnesota Vikings fan and never missed watching the Twins baseball games with his mother-in-law. He was an avid pinochle player and loved taking his furry friends on longwalks.

Dale continues to be loved by his wife, Cathy and his faithful four legged companion, Dusty, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Jeff and Lawana Gramm, Mesa, AZ; Jerry Gramm, Central City, S.D.; Mary and Rick Pierson, Hastings, MN.; Mike Gramm and Paula Arthur, Custer, S.D.; Shelly and Dan Fridley, Sioux Falls; David Gramm, Sioux Falls; 19 nieces, nephews and their spouses;  34 great nieces and nephews; and many relatives and friends. 

Dale was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Doris Anderson; his in-laws, Dr. Merlin and Ethel Gramm; and sister-in-law, Sheila Gramm.
