Dianne Payton

Dianne was born on July 27, 1943 in Sioux Falls, the daughter of Vernon and Charlotte Johnson. She attended school at Dell Rapids. 

After high school, Dianne worked at Smokeys Drive Inn in Dell Rapids and while working there she met Leland Payton. They were married on December 17, 1960 and had three children together. They lived in Hadley, Minnesota and later in the Twin Cities area. They later divorced and Dianne came to live in Sioux Falls.

Dianne worked as a waitress at the Minnehaha Country Club for several years. She decided to complete her GED and then at 40 years of age, entered Southeast Tech to complete her education. Dianne worked in data processing at Citi Bank for 11 years and then retired.

She enjoyed watching movies, especially those with Charles Bronson, and several tv shows.

Dianne is survived by her children, Steven Payton of Chantilly, VA, Shellie Payton of Sioux Falls and Stacie Payton of Sioux Falls; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a brother, James Johnson of Crooks. She is preceded in death by her parents; and two siblings, Sharon Friessen and Bobby Johnson.
