Dorothy was born on Feb. 29, 1932 in Canistota, South Dakota, the daughter of Albert and Ida (Zafft) Wise. She was married to Norman Christensen on Dec. 28, 1949 in Luverne, Minnesota.
They settled in Sioux Falls where they raised six children. Norm was working as a truck driver so Dorothy not only took care of the children, but also had to learn how to take care of her home as well. She worked at Manchester Biscuit Company until they closed and then worked at Jackrabbit Bus lines for several years cleaning the interiors of the buses. Dorothy then worked at the Sears Payment Center where she maintained and cleaned the cafeteria.
She loved going fishing and camping with Norman. Dorothy enjoyed reading, working on puzzles, playing bingo and taking care of her flower garden. She was also a good cook and was known in her family for having the best potato salad.
Dorothy passed away on March 20, 2025 at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
She is survive by her children, Linda Christensen, Cindy Warwick, Peggy (Jon) Kruckenberg and Susan (Jay) West; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Wise; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman; two sons, rodney and Guy; son-in-law, Sid Warwick; three siblings, Robert, Jerry (Jeanie) and Cheryl Johnston; and great granddaughter, Lillian Warwick.
Memorial maybe directed to Sioux Falls Lutheran School.
