Dorothy A. Legel, 90, of Sioux Falls, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Avera Dougherty Hospice House.
Dorothy was born April 24, 1934, on a farm near Colton to parents Pete and Elvera Pearson. She grew up in the Lyons area and graduated from Lyons High School. Following high school, she began her career in banking working for First National Bank Downtown Sioux Falls. In 1953 she married William G. Legel and together they had two sons.
She was a key player on her senior bowling team called the “Bed Pans”. She also loved golfing and was an avid player. She moved to Paradise Valley, Arizona in 1981. After retiring from her banking career in Arizona, she returned to Sioux Falls and joined Active Generations where she learned line dancing and volunteered as a mentor to other members. She loved her two boys dearly, (Tim and Mitch) watching them play sports and other activities. Most of all she cherished her family and took pride in her Swedish heritage.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Elvera and Pete Pearson, and her loving sister Evelyn Questad. She is survived by her two children, Tim (Judy), Mitch (Sue), her niece Deanna Questad, and nephew Randall Questad, including two grandchildren (Amanda and Drew) and one great grandchild (Luca) as well as many special great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Donations to cancer care programs are appreciated.
