Florence Christman

Florence was born on February 19, 1926 to John & Magdalena Hintz in Stanton, ND. She passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the age of 93 with family by her side. She was a resident of Watertown, South Dakota at the time of passing.

Florence resided in Sioux Falls for most of her life and was employed at Bethany Lutheran Home for 30 years. She attended grade school through 8^th grade and worked to acquire her GED, and certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant. She raised 8 children and cared for countless others throughout her career.

Florence enjoyed gardening, music, crosswords, trivia, playing cards and visiting with her friends and family. She was independent, selfless, humorous and quick-witted. She spent the last years of her life at the Jenkins Living Center where she was quick to adopt her second “family” of staff and residents. She loved the organized activities there and rarely spent time in her room.

Florence is survived by her sister Clara Kovarik of Oregon; and her children, Charles Christman of Bismarck, ND, Vernon Christman of Arizona, Rozann Helgeson of Sioux Falls, SD, Michele Olesen of Port Charlotte, FL, Melodee (Lonnie) Waters of Watertown, SD and Mary (Jim) Buhler of Arlington, SD, and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Hintz, Oscar Hintz and Eugene Hintz; a sister, Esther Ellison; a son, Richard Christman, and her daughter, LaDonna Christman.
