Sioux Falls

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gayle Angela (Angel) Gingerich Craik, 56, of Sioux Falls, SD, who left us peacefully on March 9, 2025.

Born on June 20, 1968, in Cando, ND, Gayle was a loving mother, spouse, GiGi, and friend. She dedicated 29 years of her life to Jenny Craig, owning her own franchise for 14 years. She was known for her unwavering kindness, generosity, and dedication to those around her. Gayle’s deep connection to her community touched many lives, from her friendships to her mentorships. She was instrumental in guiding a young man, Paul off the streets and into college, offering him hope and a fresh start.

Above all, Gayle was a devoted parent and a loving spouse. She is survived by her husband, Doug Craik; her five children, Dag Hilton, Nixon Hilton, Ariana Anderson, Jerad Craik, and Nick Craik; her mother, Joy Gingerich; her two siblings, Chantel Gingerich and Scott Gingerich; and her seven grandchildren: Landon Otteson, Riley Craik, Cailyn Craik, Brenden Craik Harwood Nicholson, Huxley Hilton and Homer Nicholson.

Gayle was deeply involved in Junior League, Parrot Heads of the Prairie, Pedal Farr, volunteering at the animal shelter and feeding the homeless. She also had a heart for troubled youth, opening her home and her arms to those in need of guidance. Gayle helped many young people get back on track, offering them a safe space, mentorship, and the support they needed to turn their lives around. Her belief in second chances and her steadfast commitment to helping others find their way was one of the many ways she left a lasting impact on the lives of those she touched.

In addition to her community involvement, Gayle had a flair for planning extravagant themed parties that brought people together in joyous celebration. Whether it was a small gathering or a large event, she had a unique ability to create unforgettable experiences, ensuring that every detail was thoughtfully planned and everyone felt welcomed. These events became cherished memories for all who attended, and her creativity and zest for life were evident in every gathering she orchestrated.

Her heart always sought out and found joy in simple, soul-refreshing moments: boondocking in her Volkswagen camper van with Doug in remote, peaceful locations, soaking in the serenity of sandy beaches by the water, attending live music with family and friends, and cherishing time spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. Gayle had an uncanny way of finding beauty in the most unexpected places. She had a gift for seeing potential in people, offering support and guidance to those who needed it most.

A “Going Home” celebration will be planned, with details to be posted on her Facebook memorialization page. Services will take place in both Fargo and Sioux Falls in the coming months.

Gayle’s presence on this earth will be deeply missed, but her memory, wisdom, and love will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Rest in God’s embrace, Gayle.
