Janet Jeannine Tuttle passed away suddenly on October 1, 2024. Jan had a heart attack the day after her mother’s death and died one week later. Jan and her mother were very close and losing her mother simply broke Jan’s heart. The family is grateful that they are together again.
Jan was born October 8, 1979 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. Jan’s grandmother Louise Rohlf, and Great Grandparents Floyd & Lillian Taylor, played a significant role in her life during her growing-up years and into adulthood. Jan graduated from Custer High School. After high school she lived in various locations, including many years in Rapid City. She had moved to Yankton to be closer to her mother and was happy to be able to see her regularly during the last 4 years.
Some of Jan’s favorite memories were of the time she spent with her cousins growing up – going to the candy store down the street; attending the Black Hills Roundup parade, rodeo and carnival; going to Orman Dam; playing Grandma Louise’s jukebox; going to all the Black Hills tourist attractions with Grandpa and Grandma Rohlf; attending First Baptist Church in Belle Fourche with the family.
Jan loved kids even though she didn’t have any of her own. She had found a family in the community of New Life Church in Yankton, and enjoyed helping with the children. Jan liked spending time with her friends whether it was barbequing at the lake, or just hanging out together at home.
Jan is survived by her grandmother Louise Rohlf, her step-grandmother Carol Tuttle, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother Beverly Tuttle, her grandfather William Tuttle, her step-grandfather Milton Rohlf, and her great-grandparents Floyd & Lillian Taylor.
