Janice Thomas

Janice passed away at home in Sioux Falls with her family at her side on Nov. 20, 2023.  

Janice was born on August 23, 1937 in Sutherland, lowa, the daughter of Velma and Harold Lange. She moved to Cherokee, Iowa following graduation from Sutherland High School. While living and working in Cherokee, Janice met Ralph Lee Thomas. They were married on November 30, 1958. Jan and Ralph lived in Sioux City, Iowa from 1959-2021. From this union, Ralph and Janice had 3 children, Randy, Anette and Scott.  Janice worked for Sears for many years until she retired. 

In 2021, Jan and Ralph moved to Sioux Falls, SD. Jan and Ralph enjoyed many years of fishing camping and dancing. Wintering in Texas brought them numerous friendships. 

Jan is preceded in death by her son Scott Thomas; parents, Harold and Velma Lange;  a sister, Phyllis (Charlie) Anderson of Sutherland IA; and a brother, Dewayne Lange of Spencer, IA. 

Janice is survived by her husband, Ralph Thomas; two children, Randy Thomas of Dunnelon FI and Annette (Richard) Laudanskas Sioux Falls SD;  grandchildren, Bradley (Courtne) Laudanskas, SD, Lisa Hanson, SD, Laura (Scott) Sroufe, SD, Allesha (Dalton) Swick, lA, Tristin and Amber Thomas, IA, and  Austin (Andrea) Thoma,s FI; great grandchildren, Mackade, Addie, Ryder and Lenox Laudanskas, Isla Hanson, Jackson Sroufe, Skyler and Kyleigh Thomas, Kamdyn Kingston, and Kora Swick.
