James Lee Isburg, known by many as “Jimmy”, was born on March 14, 1968 to Wendell and Kathryn (Schoenfelder) Isburg.

Jimmy was diagnosed with cancer and leukemia in 2022. He endured heavy chemotherapy and constant hospital visits, but he lost the battle on April 13, 2025. A private service was conducted in Sioux Falls, SD.

Jimmy grew up on a farm & ranch in Buffalo County, SD where he loved to hunt, fish and work hard. Jimmy especially loved working with cattle and doing concrete work. Jimmy also worked in the casino business for over 10 years and as a sanitation route driver in the Chamberlain and Mitchell areas for nearly 15 years.

Jimmy’s biggest passion was songwriting and performing music. Songs recorded and written by Jimmy received radio play in Europe along with several South Dakota stations. Jimmy spent most weekends performing thousands of live shows with bands and many acoustic shows.

Jimmy was often heard saying that spending time with his children was "'the highlight of his life".
