Kristin Reiste

Kristin Kay Reiste, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2024, while under hospice care at Good Samaritan Society-Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, SD. She requested no services and that her cremains be scattered in places holding special memories for her—Puget Sound, the Black Hills, and the Ocheyedan Mound.

Kris was born April 8, 1950 at Sibley, Iowa to Evelyn M. (Tharp) and Robert K. Reiste of Ocheyedan, IA. She grew up in Ocheyedan and graduated from Ocheyedan High School in 1968. She was very active in music, clubs and organizations, was a class officer, and, to the amazement of friends and family, Betty Crocker Award winner. She had many lifelong friends from those early years.

After attending post-secondary programs in Mankato, MN and Sioux Falls, she spent her working life in computer programing and materials management for companies such as White-Westinghouse and Syncom.

Kris was an avid reader with “books in progress” always nearby. She particularly enjoyed crossword puzzles. She never missed a chance to reconnect with old friends.

Survivors include her brother Kenneth (Barb) of Sioux Falls; sisters Roberta (Dennis) Youde of Maple Valley, WA and Jan (Arlyn) Pedley of Ocheyedan along with many nieces and nephews and cousins, and her very dear friend and “sister” Audrey Erpenbach, Sioux Falls.

Kris was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
