Matie Heesch

Sioux Falls

Matie was born on Dec. 28, 1928 at Roslyn, South Dakota, one of four children of Fred and Mary (Brown) Waddle. She attended grade school in Roslyn and Garretson. She attended high school in Garretson and graduated in 1946.

Matie married Delbert Heesch on October 27, 1946 in Garretson. Matie worked as a seamstress for Genie's Interior Design for over 30 years. She was an active member at First United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, serving as Past President of the United Methodist Women and on the library committee. Matie was involved with the local PTA and had served as president.

In her free time, Matie liked painting ceramics, making scrap books and reading. She also enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.

Matie is survived by her children,  Allen Heesch, Rebecca (James) Voll, Lowell (Patty) Heesch, Calvin (Pam) Heesch, Virginia (Kenneth) Greger and Nyle (Jill) Heesch; 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert; siblings, Beth, Glen, Jesse and Francis; great granddaughter, Ashley; and daughter-in-law, Carol.
