Mike L. Jorvig, (64), of Hartford, South Dakota passed away peacefully on May 28th, 2024 after a long, hard fought battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones in his final moments and will be deeply missed.
Mike was born to Lawrence and Bernice (Kruiter) Jorvig in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on July 12th, 1959. Mike grew up with 7 siblings in Clear Lake, SD where he learned his hard work ethic. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1977. After graduating, Mike joined the United States Air Force and served as an Inventory Management Specialist until honorably discharged on March 7th, 1979. Mike settled in the Sioux Falls, SD area in 1984 and eventually found his passion in tile setting and spent his entire career perfecting his skills. There are many businesses and homes in the Sioux Falls area and beyond that have the honor of showcasing his artistic talents and dedicated meticulousness. Mike loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren and spent time with them whenever possible. Mike also was a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Nascar racing of all types, gardening, working on cars, and spending time outside. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
Mike’s feisty spirit is carried on by his mother Bernice Jorvig of Clear Lake, SD; his two daughters Jennifer (Eric) Spafford of Des Moines, IA, and Janeen Jorvig of Hartford, SD; his four grandchildren Aubree Jones of Storm Lake, IA, Kiran Jones of Manson, IA, Blake Jones of Manson, IA, and Dreyton Jorvig of Hartford, SD; his siblings Joleen (Brad) Meier of Watertown, SD, Larry (Gabi) Jorvig of Goldsboro, NC, Lisa (Dave) Wagner of Rapid City, SD, Laurie Salanoa of Clear Lake, SD, and Jon Jorvig of Clear Lake, SD. Mike has many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins that he also greatly loved.
Proceeding him in peace were his father, Lawrence Jorvig; brothers Ben and Jeff Jorvig, and cherished son Jason Jorvig.
To honor Mike’s memory, a service will be held at Chapel Hill funeral home in Sioux Falls, SD on Monday June 3rd, 2024 at 11:00 am with a viewing the hour prior to service.
