Sioux Falls

Michael Eugene Squires passed away on Monday, August 21st, 2023 after an extended illness.

Mike was born in Wichita, KS to Roger Eugene Squires and Donna Kay (Dawkins). At a young age, the family moved to Henryetta, Oklahoma where Mike grew up roaming the country side fishing and hunting. These formative years would influence his love of the outdoors for the rest of his life.

In 6th Grade, the family relocated to Claremore, Oklahoma. Mike soon found that city living was not for him. At this time, he became interested in model making and electric trains, a hobby that he would continue for many years.

In 9th Grade, the family relocated to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Mike rediscovered his love of the outdoors and discovered a new love, 1970’s Ford Broncos. Mike enjoyed working on his Bronco and owned several over the course of his life. While playing football in school, he was given the nickname “Twinkie” which he was known by during the time he lived at the lake. Twinkie could sometimes be a rough and tumble character, but also fiercely loyal to his friends.

Mike worked at a number of places around the Lake including Stanton Manufacturing and Galva-Foam Marine Industries. He spent several years traveling around the country working on boat dock assembly crews.

In 2005, Mike made his home in Sioux Falls, SD where he met and married Pamela Metzger. They remained united in matrimony until his untimely death at the age of 53.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Squires who passed away 6/29/2022. Mike is survived by his wife, Pamela Squires of Sioux Falls, SD, his father, Roger Squires of Temple, TX, and his brother David Squires (Carolyn) of Austin, TX.

In honor of Mike's wishes, no services will be held.
