Mila Johnson

Mila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She was born on May 27, 1938, in Bradley, South Dakota, and passed away peacefully on her 84th birthday, May 27, 2023. 

Mila grew up in the small town of Bradley, SD, and graduated from Bradley High School. She then married Howard Johnson on June 17, 1959, and they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where they raised their three sons, Jeff, Todd and Troy. 

Mila worked at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls for over 30 years, where she retired in 2003. She was a Nurse’s Aide and worked in housekeeping. Mila was a hard worker and dedicated to her job, but she always made time for her family and her hobbies. 

In her spare time, Mila enjoyed cross-stitching, watching her favorite shows, traveling, and going out to eat. She loved spending time with her family, and family vacations were some of her favorite memories. 

Mila was a kind and caring person who always put others before herself. She had a heart of gold and a smile that lit up the room. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. 

Mila is survived by her three sons and families, Jeff and Donna Johnson, Todd and Heidi Johnson, and Troy Johnson, as well as her grandson Jesse Johnson and granddaughter Kayla Schumacher, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, parents Melvin and Agnes Lyngbye, and brother, Donald Stacy.

Mila, you will always hold a special place in our hearts. Rest in peace.
