Robert Saltmarsh

Robert passed away March 14, 2023 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

He was born March 26, 1930 to Arthur Earl Saltmarsh and his wife, Alma DeBord, near Marne, Iowa. He married Karen Darlene Olsen on March 20, 1949. Robert and Darlene farmed near Marne and Elk Horn for many years and raised their family. They moved to Minnesota in 1983 and then to Hartford, South Dakota in 2003.

Robert was a farmer, carpenter, hunter and trapper. But most of all he was a cowboy. He was known to many in the Hartford area as “Cowboy Bob”.

Robert is survived by his children: Diana French of Waukee, Iowa, Debra (Jim) Christensen of Adel, Iowa, Patricia (Ercell) Fortney of Hartford, SD, Teresa (Mark) Cagwin of Sandpoint, Idaho, Robert (Theresa) Saltmarsh of Sioux Falls, SD and Karen (Ron) Marschel of Pierz, MN; his grandchildren: Travis, Tracy, Chris, Adam, John, Rachel, Luke, Jared, Todd, Zachariah, Austen, Kiah and 17 great-grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Darlene, his daughter. Cyndia, his grandson Shane Teagarden and his grandson Brett Cagwin.
