Yvonne Schmuck

Yvonne was born on May 31, 1935 in Rock Valley, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Nellie (VanDeWeerd) Vugteveen. She attended grade school in Rock Valley and graduated from Hawarden High School in 1952. After high school, Yvonne lived in Sioux Falls.

Yvonne married Jimmie Schmuck on November 5, 1961 at the First Methodist Church. She was employed at Reinharts, Barkleys Insurance and Home Federal Bank. Yvonne was employed for 25 years at Robert Frost Elementary School where she served as an education assistant and worked in the lunchroom. 

Yvonne was an avid bowler for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and going shopping with her daughter. She looked forward to monthly luncheons celebrating birthdays with her friends. Yvonne also liked testing her luck at the casino and getting in the cash booth on her birthday. She enjoyed family trips and reunions near Brainerd, Minnesota and liked fishing at the lake. 

Yvonne was 89 years old when she passed away on Aug 30, 2024 under hospice care at her home.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmie; a daughter, Kristin; and her cousins and many extended family members. Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; and her aunt and uncle, Don and Hermina DenHerder.
